I obsessed a lot about grid chokes and the onset of A2 operation. I felt doom and gloom was certain. But, I kept thinking about how transformer coupling was the norm in the past for A2...and then I was forced to admit to myself that given my speakers and the amps wattage I had to be clipping....and then that this, the clipping, was inaudible. Now keep in mind I did opt for smaller coupling caps and a somewhat higher resonant frequency than the norm and I can't say what effect that had but given my experiences I'd say that the amp's behavior, at onset of clipping, will be better with proper grid chokes. And yes I do understand how hard that is to swallow if you feel that A2 onset works against the Z of the choke rather than the DCR of the choke.
