I now own a Revox 215 and a Revox B710Mk2. I had a Nak ZX-7 that I bought new in the 80's and finally sold last year. I decided I had to many cassette decks for the small amount of use they now get so at least one had to go. It was a tough decision but I decided I liked the Revox 215 best. Also, the Nak was worth a lot more money ( got $695 for it on Fleabay). Repair is always an issue on these old machines. The Nak even though it had VERY little use still had issues I had to address. Their Archilles heal is the little grain of wheat bulb used in the pulse counter that the logic uses to tell if the tape is moving. When that burns out the unit will only play/rec for a few secs then stop and the bulb is a bitch to replace. While it was apart it got a thorough cleaning and new rubber idler tires. The Revox B215s have a problem in that the LCD screens go bad over time and finding a new one that doesn't cost as much as you pay for the machine is not easy. Compared side by side the build quality is noticably better for the Revox. The B710 got used mostly for making tapes for the car but I no longer have a cassette deck in the car. I've owned dozens of cassette decks in the past including Tascam 122 Mk1 and MkIIs, those are very good solid decks for the used prices they get.Dave
