Home Tape Trail

Reel to reel, cassette and other analogue tape formats.

I forgot:

Revox B215
Tandberg TCD-340A
Tandberg 3014

I'm not dissing cassettes. But they do degrade the signal slightly even with a perfect deck & the very best tape available. Open-reel does too, but to a lesser extent. You might like the way they sound (I do) but they're still inferior to a properly-done CD.

I'm making this statement based on if you properly record the same signal to a cassette and a CD with good equipment & then play them back, the CD will be technically superior. I'm not saying that crappily mastered prerecorded CDs are better, because there are some piss-poor sounding CDs out there. The CD medium itself however, is better than cassette.

Cheers,
Bobbo :-)
