Hello, I don't mean to get arumentative here, but I noticed while I was doing recording studio ownership/engineering for over a decade here in Los Angeles, during the 1970's and 80's, I never saw any studio using a cassette deck to MASTER any recordings. Why was this? Were we all stupid, deaf, pro-audio-engineers? Who were missing the greatest recording systems available? All over town, I went to studios to take care of business, and no engineer worth his cheeseburger, would ever choose a Nakamichi or Tandberg, or Revox etc. cassette recorder over an open-reel Ampex ATR, or Studer a-80, or 3M M-79, or MCI, even a Scully... They just would not use it... a cassette tape runs at 1-7/8 IPS. Open-reel runs faster...just works/sounds better, punchier, lower-noise, (we mostly can't stand the sound of noise-reduction, without NR, cassettes are far too noisy) fewer drop-outs... Just a better recording format than Compact Cassette.
