Re: I grew up in Georgia too!

Went to hs in Stone Mountain Ga and lived in Redan. As small a town as it gets. Strange to run into you here but,.. I guess that's what the internet is all about. I used to know a guy named Charles Preston that used to service the equipment at alot of the local small radio stations in the area. This was in the early '70's. I would go with him on his rounds to these tiny stations, some were in ex gas stations and some were in nice upscale homes. I remember some of the jazz stations were all 78's with thousands of plain covered discs numbered but not named. We were both,long haired hippies but the owners didn't seem to mind. Just get the machines working and leave. there were probaly lots of great gear that I lubed and cleaned in those days,.. butI really didn't know at the time. I think I had an A77 then or just after, and a Sony r-r also.Speaker were always JBL and tt were thorens. Tape was for the guys in the know and that's the way we ran a rig. If you didn't know how to splice,..well you know.
