B-C tapes were made as late as the 1980s. None of mine (I have at least 50) came out in the 1950s. And they are among the most robust tapes I have, with never a breakage problem. On the other hand, the sound quality is not uniformly great. B-C was at the mercy of the original record labels and more than a few of their tapes were made from inferior, multi-generation masters and not even the equal of the equivalent LPs. That said, they are greatly missed.
