Since when are tweaks necessary for great recording?

I've got a Judy and the Jazzmakers CD on Coherent Records;this is about a realistic sound as you'll get out of Redbook CD. I think Don Morrison had something to do with it, which means No Tweaks.

Simplicity is the key; only two good mikes and as little else as you can manage. Who knows,the Mapleshades might be as good or better without the tweaks.
