Steve:I agree with you. Jon's refusal to discuss specifics whenever his pronouncements are challenged, his incessant, mind-numbing yeasayer/naysayer claptrap, his repeated use of objectionable language, his repeated personal attacks in violation of Asylum rules, and his abuse of power by threatening to ban, and banning, those who take his unsupported theories to task have, in my opinion, seriously contaminated and undermined the Asylum.
Unfortunately, few speak up. Apparently, many prefer technical discussions of audio issues to be more like attendance at church (where one’s beliefs can be reinforced) and less like attendance at a science class (where truth is the goal).
Don’t get me wrong. I attend church regularly to nurture my spiritual side. But I think I have a pretty good handle on where to draw the line between spiritual beliefs and matters and issues of scientific objectivity. When I read technical discussions on AA I want to read posts that are seeking the truth rather than demonstrating how many different obnoxious and offensive techniques a person can employ to promote his own personal agenda and beliefs.
