He increased the contact area and decreased the force in proportion.
.08 G's of force doesn't seem too high. (500/6280)But I've no idea what spl would be required to do that to a cable.
It's not actually necessary to deform the surface that much.
In thinking about it...at frequencies below the natural resonance of the inner conductor/dielectric, the entire cable would move as one..it would only be above that frequency that the inner conductor's mass would begin to really resist the movement of the dielectric. So there should be some kind of low end rolloff..
And, in the normal home, the high end would rolloff naturally, lest we bleed at the ears.
So, any test of the effect would have to be swept across the entire band, I gthink there will be a sweet spot where the piezo effect will be maximum.
