Banning him will only reduce the discussions...Well sure. That was the whole point. :)
I dont want this forum to reduce to the level of others where the moderators views infulence the postings and where the incumberant pack get their say over, open and fair discussion.
It already has reduced to that level. Why do you think the whole thread was moved over here?
Basically, the real impetus behind this forum and Tech Square was so that Jon could continue to make all manner of technical claims on Cable Asylum while preventing those claims from being questioned or otherwise challenged in the same forum in which he made them.
It was the feeling of some that Cable Asylum should just be for people to share their experiences without getting into technical issues as many participants on Cable Asylum didn't care to get into technical issues.
And that notion in itself was all well and good as far as I was concerned. In fact, several years ago I had suggested either allow open and fair discussion of technical issues on Cable Asylum or prohibit technical issues altogether.
I've always felt that if technical claims were allowed to be made, they should be open to question or challenge.
The situation as it is now is that Jon can (and routinely does) make all manner of technical claims on Cable Asylum, but any questioning or challenging of those claims on Cable Asylum get swept under the Propeller Head carpet, leaving Cable Asylum a one-way street for Jon.
Basically, instead of Cable Asylum being a forum for fair and open discussion, it's become Jon's private guru ashram to promote only Jon's points of view and those of others Jon is largely in agreement with.
