I think it is the subject matter that makes the forum contentious and I would think someone who makes a living (hopefully!) and has a good reputation in the field should be aware of this. That there is a chasm between the subjective side of audio and the objective side is obvious. Maybe we can close the gap on this forum - though the day we do high-end audio will become a commodity and your margins will - well let's not think about that. Much kudos to John Curl for his openness and contributions to the forum but in a world where so much of everyday life is shaped by science and engineering it's not suprising that non-quantifiable (for whatever reason) are called to account.

I've read many of Steve's posts, they're informative and he makes a positive contribution to the Asylum. He is exacting technically and semantically but not without a humorous side. Whether you find him precise or pedantic (or even pissy) is a personal call and I suggest the best way to keep the forum SNR high is for everyone to post positively, pick the worthwhile debates and don't worry about having the last word.
