IIRC, polyacetylene has been made with conductivities close to good metals. It's unstable in air, too, perfect for audiophiles who change their cables more often than their underwear.Carbon fiber in interconnects predates van den Hul. Heck, I was doing it in the mid '80s and it wasn't new then.
