Re: Guitar / Keyboard noise in new facility

Believe it or not even the humbuckers make a lot of noise. MUCH better than the single coils here but still unusable.

Last night I took my UPS, guitar and headphones for a drive in the car to see if the noise got better as I got away from the building.

That was fruitless. No matter where I went it didn't work. It turns out the UPS must be grounded to the line to work. Also, the field it emits is too loud to do detective work.

On a different front, I did try the AM radio test from my car. I tuned to a weak station with overwhelming noise, almost digital in nature - 570 AM. I drove around the block, around the newpaper printers and found the source of that was the power line. I found just a *little* (very little) in front of my neighbors building, but as soon as I turned the corner to the alley, right under the transformer, with the antenna directly under the power line, that is when it began....and it followed the whole power line right to the end.

More tests later...
