Being an old stereo addict I will put my 2 cents into this discussion. Your Yamaha with a rating of 55 WPC RMS will probably be actually about this power rating. An old rule of thumb is the size of the power supply (transformer) will give you an idea of what the amp is capable of and its reserve power, the heavier the amp, typically the more power it will have. You may try more efficient speakers with a SPL at 1 meter of maybe 96 or higher, Klipsch comes to mind. The power handling capacity of your speakers is not the problem, so getting other speakers with a higher possible input 250 Watts or higher will not solve your problem.
