You said the power comsumption on the back of the Yamaha is 300W. Assuming a fairly well designed amp it might be 50%-60% efficient, so you have ~150 watts delivered through 2 channels or I would expect it could delivery up to 75 watts per channel. What is the maximum power consumption on the back of the Samson? I have heard ridiculous power output claims by some manf that exceed the power consumption of the unit (whoohoo violation of conservation of energy we are rich). Don't get me wrong it is possible to store energy in the system and release it all at once for a large (very short) burst of power BUT a good rule of thumb for max constant power output can be calculated for any device as I did above for the Yamaha. Sometimes you may have to look at what they inline fused the power cord to find max input power V(~120)*I(fuse current rating)=power(in watts). All of these are approximates but they create a simple, quick, baseline to compare power amps by.
