I did a search on the net and found many studios who still use this deck. I know digital gives you less of the "sound" you do not want but it also gives you less of the sound you do want, dollar for dollar. I am not a pro but some of the best albums ever made where made before digital became the norm. The trouble with the old stuff was the lack of good masters being used to transfer to records and tapes. These formats would not reveal the limits of the master copies. This is why we see all these remastered CD coming out it was the master copy, copy..., etc., that was bad not the multi track reel. I also like to tinker with stuff some box with a chip in it just does not do it for me. Maybe I am the dinosaur after all? Ow well I always looked up to producers like Paul Rothchild, George Martin and yes even Ted Templeman. There were analog guys for sure and one or two is even still alive!
