Trying to get the best bang for the buck. This is used for my basement setup which is based on MM cartridges; I use it for LPs I feel don't "deserve" playback on my main moving coil setup. The main setup uses a pro SD card recorder like you use, a Denon DN-500R.
Frankly I would be hard pressed to discern between recordings on the Denon and the M-audio. From what I read around the web its performance is still well regarded, the only problem being its legacy PCI interface.
