Hi -A lot of us are not hugely convinced of the benefits of upsampling from CDs - the reason is that the format is fundamentally limited by its design. I would not hesitate to recommend a Bolder or RedWine mod to your SB if all you were doing was ripping CDs - the experience of lots of people on this Forum suggests you would be pleased.I would definitely call Wayne at Bolder to discuss things with him - very nice guy, there may be a stone or two you are leaving unturned.
However, once you get into the mode of digitizing LPs, everything changes. It is much more technical to do, requires excellent monitoring and some (audio) engineering sense. There are some posts here and you should do a search if you have not already.
All of which is a long about way to say that I would build my system to meet the LP requirments which are likely to be considerably more specialized and demanding then getting Redbook to sound its best. The optimum DAC for that application will no doubt do a fine job on any Redbook material you may have.
You might find a TriVista right around the price point which would be an excellent choice
