Jan,I agree. The best way to treat an OTL amp is to directly connect them to your speaker. Since OTL speakers love higher impedance loads, my approach was to make low impedance speakers feel like a high impedance load as transparent as possible. Now the benefit of higher impedance needs to be weighed against any loss because of the added component in the circuit. My ears tell me that the loss is essentially zero (pun), so it is an easy decision for me. It will be interesting to hear from the others when they get their ZEROs what they hear and what they feel the cost-to-benefit ratio is. I think that most of the people that are interested in the ZEROs are living with a mismatch problem that they can hear and would like to solve.
Also, be aware that these are autoformers not transformers. The music goes out on the same winding wire that it comes it on. See Schematic on ZEROs page.
I found a domestic source that was much more willing to entertain my "crazy" specifications, and understands hi end audio.
