Like many of you I used to run ESL 63's (Crosby modded too) but the repairs got too expensive. I now run a pair of Source Technologies 610, a 2 way with the scan speak 8545 7" woofer and tweeter from the Scanspeak Revelator family.With the quads I too had too much bass, and Ralph suggested putting a resitor across the shorting pins, which helped.
The dynamic speaker seems to be working shockingly well with my older MA1's. What would be the advantage of an autoformer for me? I don't need any more output.
