If you are interested in an audio autoformer I may be able to help. I had some made in Denmark that are pretty good. The are rated 20-80K Hz though I don't quite believe it. My experience with them is that some of the openness in the highs goes away. I am rather critical though. I have found them useful with Quads because they have such a high impedance in the bass. This makes them boomy and they tend to go into overload. The transformer is almost unnoticable outside of really taming the bass.
The way the manufacturer describes them is 22v 8 ohm in and 49v 40 ohm out.
Only one tap a total of 3 wires.
We want to go the other way but the ratio is the same. They are toriods.
I can get a pair of raw transformers to anyone interested for about $200.
If more than seven people want them I can get a better price and will pass it on. I have one pair on hand that I am about to sell to a gentleman with Quads. If someone in the group wants to give them a quick try before I sell them I would be willing.
