due to their ultra low mass radiating surfaces compression drivers have dynamics that can't be matched by cone drivers. This particular aspect of audio is pretty much unknown to most audiophiles, IMO.As with everything, there are many quality/cost levels out there and it behooves to choose with care. I wouldn't suggest any with mylar diaphragms, but aluminum, titanium, beryllium, carbon fibre sound good. Phenolic sounds good for lower freqs.
The biggest problem is in creating an affordable low freq compression driver, one that will fully respond at 70hz or lower. Of course [size of] the horn then becomes another problem. :)
Given the opportunity, you really should give them a listen.
I understand the massless plasma tweeter is the only improvement to compression drivers, but haven't heard them.
