Horns are just very effiecent speaker's, Thats their common ground.
Horns have more complicted crossovers, creating more of a load on the amp. Generaly can take more power too. As far as sound. I have single driver BLH cabinet with a 6.5 inch driver that goes lower than my 15" woofer in my Lascalla. They both provide hours of very listenable sound, they both excell at what they are designed to do.Single driver's cant handle complex music as well a as a two or three way horn.
These are some of the differences that I experienced with my current speakers
