The local Sony service centre replaced the laser assembly on my XA777ES a few months ago, but I had to send it back to them because after that it wouldn't read some of my SA-CDs.They finally had to order in that special SA-CD alignment disc to realign the laser, which took weeks.
At least here in Australia there are many service centres to choose from - there's at least half a dozen in Sydney alone, and I chose someone about 15 mins drive away.
