That's terrible. I guess we're seeing the results of cost cutting, similar to what happened with the Philips SACD1000 fiasco. I have an XA777ES that experiences the occasional drop out. It's so rare that I don't see the need to replace its optical pickup, but if I do, I will just do the job myself. Some helpful inmates posted links to sites that carry the assembly for about $150. Seems a better choice than sending the unit to Laredo.
