Re: To get all the beauty out of the Living Stereo SACDs

I'm not going to get into tube vs SS other than to state that, in my experience, the better the gear, the more alike they sound. I can usually hear the higher distortion levels on most tube gear, which is why I guess people tend to like it. They are nice distortions. I do have a tube preamp, and I can't hear any distortions produced by it.

I should also say that, when I have preferred many LPs of the Living Stereos, that was just a relative comparison. I have never been a great admirer of LS LPs for their sound. I was buying records when they were coming out, and I bought very few, manily because the performances I wanted were on other labels. However, the sound on LS records was quite variable and at best not up with the great sound to be found on British Decca and EMI or even many London recordings. In fact, many Columbia six eyes were better that nearly all of the LS recordings. In the the late 50s and early '60s, the RCA label did not have a reputation for great sound. It was known to be hit and miss. I'm talking only about classical music.
