Hybrid SACD sound not as good as SACD only titles?

Has anyone noticed that Hybrid SACDs do not sound any better when played using a SACD player than when played using a conventional player? I have found great satisfaction from a few pure SACDs (Beck's Sea Change comes to mind) but haven't found SACD playback very satisfying from hybrid titles such as Dire Strait's Brothers in Arms or Ray Charles' Genius Loves Company. However, these titles sound exceptionally good through my conventional player (Rotel RCD-971) SACD source is a cheap Sony DVD player with SACD capability. Comments?
