The complete audio section of the SONY SCD-1/SCD-777ES uses the EXACT circuit lifted from a BurrBrown applications note for one of it's opamps. Not one thing has been changed!
Such application Note circuits are drawn to give hints to to end-user designers on how the part could be used - they are suggestions and often have never even been built - let alone listened to - before being printed on the last page of a chip's data sheet...
And SONY are far from the only offenders in this sonic crime!
