Also, because of the complex acoustic environment of earcup/ear-canals, etc.., understanding or interpreting headphone measurements is not as simple or as easily understood as loudspeaker measurements are. What might appear on headphone measurement graphs as shocking "jagged" peaks and/or troughs might in fact sound acceptably flat to individual(s) involved in actual listening tests. That which the eardrums pick up (and that which we attempt to measure) is the total sum of all earcup/ear-canal interactions (earcup/ear-canal, soft tissue, etc...), whereas final loudspeaker measurements are usually taken within the confines of solid, rectangular rooms. Interpreting headphone measurements seems to be an art in itself and "jagged" looking measurement graphs may not always mean what they would seem to mean.

Designing, measuring, and/or evaluating a pair of headphones might actually be more of a subjective "hit and miss" affair than we would like to admit to in these modern times...
