With his new ability to play SACDs, will he become an SACD cheerleader too? Also when he finally has both which one will he like better? Or will he just buy the music he wants in whatever format it is on?That will be a very interesting time, indeed!
To be totally honest with the releases from Universal Music I buy the DVD-Audio version instead of the SACD version because of the extra Videos, interviews and commentary.
But for most classical music it is usually SACD. In the case of Naxos I buy the SACD versions even though they are PCM as they have a dedicated 2-channel mix. The only Naxos DVD-Audio I own is the 83 minute Adventures of Robin Hood which is pretty good and I would guess it was never released on SACD due to it’s long playing time.
I tried the two Telarc DVD-Audios but the SACD versions are better but that could because the masters were DSD?
