Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

I'm thinking about changing out my stock wall receptacle. I haven't purchased one yet, but wanted to get an idea of what's involved. I turned off my breaker, unscrewed so the outlet would come out. I noticed what appeared to be a ground wire attached to the bottom screw and two larger wires going into the back of the outlet. Are these being held in place by the large screws on the side of the outlet? I don't want to make any assumptions on a matter like this.
Also, what recommendations do you have for an outlet that would
help provide smooth and non-fatiguing sound. Thanks!
