You have kind of cemented what I have been saying for a long while now and being the VA kt88s are made by shuguang,the results dont surprise me.THe tube you want to use is the Penta Shuguang KT88 solid plate..Yes the Valve Arts are close but not as good and the reliability of them is so so.
Somehow the chinese seemed to get it right with the kt88 and they are very close to my Genelex and maybe better in some areas.
