I second that.In my Mc240, I removed the positive feedback (C9, 10, 19, 20) from the cathodes of the 6L6's to the cathodes of the 12AX7's, and replaced the cathode resistors of the AX7's (R28, 29 and so forth) with 1mA FET CCS from Siliconix. I also added a pot between the plates of the phase inverter (12AU7's) for AC balance. The sound became more relaxed
But the biggest improvements were from increasing the power supply capacitance and moving the bias toward class AB: that removed the hard, transistor-like edge (from cross-over distortions) I found offending.
