What was the failure mode? Was the conclusion reached on the basis of a single failure or multiple failures of the 5692 in each case?I have in my posession a duo of VT-231 Sylvanias from 1944. They "failed" after a year. I can't generalize about all VT-231s on that basis though.
I can't disprove your theory regarding the lack of robustness of a 5692. However, my anecdotal evidence is every bit as valid as yours, and the RCA publications do validate the deliberate underrating.
I'll just let the readers of this thread draw their own conclusions. Thanks for the reply above Len!
