The ratings on the RCA "red" tubes (5691, 5692, 5693) are artificially low. The ratings were reduced so the tube could be marketed as a long life (10,000 hour) tube. The tube is every bit as robust as a 6SN7, it's just rated very conservatively. So if tubes are dying in some apps, it's not likely the tube's fault.
