DC STEVE, hi. I think the JJ 300B is a sleeper tube to some extent now and their newly released 2.5V filament version (2A3) is as well. The JJ is well made which becomes obvious on inspection. The JJ 300B which I have run have been bias stable from the git go exhibiting no bad behaviors. I am so glad I decided to give the JJ 300B a chance. Look at their web site at JJ Electronics and review the plant, their growth, and the attitude of the company. I think this outfit wants to make excellent tubes and strives to do so.One caveat: the nicely fashioned ceramic base on the JJ 300B is about 1/2 millimeter larger than other makers versions of this tube. It matters not at all unless your 300B UX4 socket is suspended below the top of the chassis as it is in the CARY CAD-300SE Signature, for example. In this case I changed the socket from a suspended wafer type to a socket flush with the chassis surface. Warning!: do NOT try to cram fit a ceramic base through a 1/2 mm too small chassis hole. By the way the base on this tube is excellent with properly sized and tapered pins. Be sure to measure your "through chassis" punched holes to know if it is going to be a problem.
