RE: Speaker Repair

I'd be wary about spending much on repair. If both bass drivers are in that condition, perhaps the tweeters have been equally abused! If so, the repair cost may be higher than replacement with good used speakers.

I've done a few speaker repairs but nothing in that league! There are specialist repairers that could replace the surround in such a way that the coil remains precisely centred. If you DIY, there's a chance the coil will be scratching against the magnet it's housed in. And is the cone in acceptable condition - and the coil - and the spider (if that's what it's called) that holds the coil centrally?

At 80, perhaps like is too short to mess around with these jobs! I gave up before reaching that venerable age. ;-)
