Are you using the subwoofer amp? That will give you deeper bass than the Gallos alone.Now at some point the limiting factor becomes the displacement capability of the woofer in the Ref 3. If you are at that point, you might consider subwoofers.
If you want to try a different speaker, then that's another matter. I can't make a comparison between the Reference 3 and the VR4jr.
