There is nothing in your post that says you have changed your belief, only make you wonder ?
It now seems you have realized how wrong your belief is? I personally find it difficult to comprehend how anyone could believe speaker-cabinet materials made no difference?
IMHO there is nothing wrong about using MDF as a speaker cabinet material. But like all materials it needs to be of sufficient thickness and properly constructed. Some manufacturers make cheap MDF cabinets some make better ones. The same is true for all materials used.
I’d rather a speaker (all things being equal) made with 32mm MDF all round and a 64mm frond baffle than a speaker made with 13-15 mm laminated Russian Birchwood. But hey, each to their own belief.
