I think it's a bit harder to think of that era in terms of the specifics, not because they didn't do great work, but because they stand out as being such exceptions to the rule. Which is something we've been conditioned to believe by the rock crit orthodoxy to a degree, but that doesn't mean there isn't some truth to it, of course...
