I have spent the last week getting itchy fingers wanting some chamber music, even reading the Gramophone CD guide randomly looking for inspiration!
Now I am no expert and am throwing myself (LOOK OUT!!!) on the collective knowledge of the asylum.
So, I am looking for some chamber music. I have an amount of Haydn, Mozart, blah blah blah. I like the feeling that you can hear the interplay between the musicians. Like some of the ECM chamber jazz releases.
If it can include something on the less usual side of instrumentation, maybe an oboe, harpsichord, viola, theremin (!!!???) line up could be fun!
Really it could be anything, from any period.
One note, if you are making recommendations for a particular disc, I tend to like a more atmospheric, textured, resonant sound.
I am sure that there is so much music out there that I would really enjoy and I am equally sure that someone here knows far more about it than I do.
