1.5 to 2x the choke current rating. That can be a rather large choke for a power tube amp. For a preamp with little current draw- no problem nor high expense. If one is drawing 15ma thru the choke, just go with a 30ma. Some may venture into even a lower DCR (direct current resistance) choke that would simply be even higher current rated.
