Hi,No real problem to run the RCA-riaa at a higher B+ actually. It could earn from a tad more gain, and you could increase the anode load of first stage if there are B+ enough. [From memory I think the series resistor prior to the passive riaa-net is large enough to give room for a bunch of kohms more there).
Running it into a 250kohm pot ought to work if you use short leads (which you intend to do :-) ) But you could use a 1Mohm grid bleeder at the pre-amp input tube and switch in the riaa after (alternative to) the pot (as that would be a nice high load to work into :-) )
