you seem to have misunderstood my post. 211 use thoriated tungsten filaments. Which is why they burn bright like light bulbs.300B etc, use nickel-chrome filaments, which glow a warm red-orange.
The 10 family of DHT also have thoriated tungsten filaments. I always thought that the thorium was alloyed with the tungsten, but it may just be a coating like plating. I suspect that there are several different alloys used, and as you know alloys behave differently than base [elemental] metals.Bronze is a good example of that...or should I say the bronzes.
I always use 2% thoriated tungsten electrodes to weld with. I don't use pure tungsten because it melts away too fast with what I weld.
Perhaps Ed can help steer you toward the literature....if you requre that.
BTW, they sound different too. I have no lit on that, but do have plenty of experience. :)
