Doc: Ampex at one time made a A-D-A conversion system for mastering preview. I don't know the model number but I was told you could push the sampling rate very high. I don't see how record companies are gona allow you out the door with their original session masters. To them it's unthinkable. You could convince them however to allow you to do a hi-def digital transfer in their own premises or maybe an analog copy using Keith Johnson's FM recorder. I think a second generation protection copy is their coda and modus operandi and you're not gona dissuade them, unfortunately. Ray Hughes
