Many thx Gagabird, will give Suess a try. Plus they are relatively local. Maybe they can do the job .. tried to play a tape last night and as expected, it was unlistenable. Am virtually certain that the first 'feed / tensioner' rubber roller, visually distorted, is the cause.
While my KA3ES isn't a prime source I have many tapes for listening. The deck is in excellent condition beyond the transport issue and I'd much prefer to keep it in service.
