Hi, Barry:It is absolutely true that these days, a portable recorder using flash memory or even those with miniature hard drives are very attractive devices.
As with all forms of ever-changing technology, there will come a time when even these devices will be quite obsolete. One can always (theoretically) play a conventional cassette tape. Many of my original masters on DAT are now unplayable and CDRs are not that reliable, all things considered.
