If your equipment is working properly, there should be zero degradation of signal. If there is a degradation of the signal, something is amiss.Also, plugging them in & unplugging repeatedly will probably cause more harm as you'll be wearing on the connectors, and flexing the internal solder joints that fasten the jacks to the circuit board.
FWIW, I've never heard any ill effects from leaving them connected.
