I hadn't really considered the ground loop issue in relationship to the output transformer, but from several things I've read in the past year or so, it seems to me that the ground loop issue could have a lot to do with how various combinations of equipment, cables and perhaps even power cords seem to affect sonics (that old "synergy" thing). All of my system is balanced, including true balanced electronics. Even the lead from my MC to my Rowland Cadence is balanced. I'm sure I'm highly prejudiced, but I've heard hundreds of systems over the past 30 years and I can't think of one that I would trade for mine (including my treasured pair of JC-1s of my arch nemisis, John Curl - but then again, Dan, I've never heard anything of yours), so something is sure working for me. Perhaps I have successfully gotten rid of the ground loops and that has made a major contribution to the performance I get out of my system.
