If I remember correctly, the redbook standard was adopted in the early 1980's. In light of what was going on in the early 1980's is the redbook standard really that awful?
This may shock you but I'm going to say it anyway. I don't think the redbook standard is as bad as it's sometimes made out to be. Over the past twenty years recording studios have learned many new techniques and new equipment has been developed to help recording studios; issues such as timing jitter can be reduced to below audibility.
I've got some really wonderful recordings in my collection of CD's. I suspect that you have quite a few yourself. If that's the case do you ever ask yourself, is it the format, or is it the recording studio?
